About

My undergraduate research at Rice University focused on the Archean and continent formation processes.  Once in grad school at Brown, I started working on planetary problems.  Archean and planetary research are similar in that you have limited data sets and samples.

For my Masters research, I am focusing on using the barren interior region of Iceland as an analog for the Northern Plains of Mars.  I am interested in weathering processes as well as climate change questions. I'm primarily a field geologist (love being out there!) but I also do lab work in spectroscopy.  For my PhD, I will expand my knowledge to another terrestrial analog:  the Dry Valleys of Antarctica.

In my spare time, I enjoy mountain climbing and hiking.  My highest point, to date, is 18,500 ft. in the Nepalese Himalaya.  I have visited 6 continents, including Antarctica, and am aiming for Africa, my last one, later this year!
