just submitted the report for his NSF grant and is working on a manuscript, "Hrungnir's Hones: Whetstones and Early Medieval Trade in the North Atlantic".
would be interested in any thoughts about the age(s) at which people create the baseline memories against which they later compare life's conditions.
presented thoughts on coping strategies and scalar stress in medieval Iceland at NSF's "Global Long-Term Human Ecodynamics" conference this weekend.
has remembered with dread the review that's soon due for a 700+ page book that he agreed to review before knowing it was that long...
may not have found Illugi svarti in the base of his pits, but he's pretty sure that he heard him mumbling.
is in Iceland, heading tomorrow to Gilsbakki in search of Viking Age chieftains and medieval manors.
is on his way to Iceland for two weeks of exploratory excavation at Gilsbakki. This year, the 9th-14th centuries await!
is looking at eight days of intensive activity before heading back to Gilsbakki.
needs to finish this report before he heads back to the site, but oh what a site!
is looking forward to getting back into the field. Not long now.
